Kari Wilson is the owner and sole artist at Greenlee Art Studios. She is an artist and photographer based on the East Coast.
She approaches her works and photography subjects with openness - asking the art to speak. This allows the ink, paint, and camera to share the moment and bring the work to life. She looks for interest, realness, and a sense of purpose in all her works.
She finds a deep interest in architecture, how light plays with shadows and places, and simplicity and something unexpected. The often overlooked is beautiful, the simple is rich, and the forgotten holds life. It is in these spaces Kari is her most creative.
Kari puts her emotions and the temperature of the environment onto paper, relying on getting out the way when the art is telling a story. It is a mix of intent and resolve that brings a bright, yet deep effect to Kari's works.
Kari was born in Ohio and spent her life traveling the United States. She graduated from Western Illinois University with a Bachelor and Master of Science in Instructional Design and Technology. It is in college Kari fell in love with photography and her passion and drive for the arts has grown from there.
When I was in preschool, my favorite time of day was when I was allowed to draw and paint. As I got older, this love never faded and eventually I went to college to study art.
I use many different mediums, such as clay, acrylics, and pastels. I believe that working in a single medium is restrictive to my artistic process. Each idea manifests in its own individual style.
I enjoy hiking in my spare time and many of my pieces are directly influenced by these hikes in nature. I love recreating plants and wildlife in my work.
